A comparison of an ATPase from the archaebacterium Halobacterium saccharovorum with the F1 moiety from the Escherichia coli ATP synthase.
A purified ATPase associated with membranes from Halobacterium saccharovorum was compared with the F1 moiety from the Escherichia coli ATP synthase. The halobacterial enzyme was composed of two major (I and II) and two minor subunits (III and IV), whose molecular masses were 87 kDa, 60 kDa, 29 kDa and 20 kDa, respectively. The isoelectric points of these subunits ranged from 4.1 to 4.8, which i...
متن کاملRelationship of the membrane ATPase from Halobacterium saccharovorum to vacuolar ATPases.
Polyclonal antiserum against subunit A (67 kDa) of the vacuolar ATPase from Neurospora crassa reacted with subunit I (87 kDa) from a membrane ATPase of the extremely halophilic archaebacterium Halobacterium saccharovorum. The halobacterial ATPase was inhibited by nitrate and N-ethylmaleimide; the extent of the latter inhibition was diminished in the presence of adenosine di- or triphosphates. 4...
متن کاملPutative promoter region of rRNA operon from archaebacterium Halobacterium halobium.
The 100 bp sequence from the beginning of the 16S rRNA gene of archaebacterium Halobacterium halobium and the adjacent 800 bp upstream sequence were determined. Four long (80 bp) direct repeats were found in the region preceeding the structural gene of the 16S rRNA. These repeats are proposed to constitute the promoter region of the rRNA operon of H. halobium.

15 صفحه اولComplex promoter pattern of the single ribosomal RNA operon of an archaebacterium Halobacterium halobium.
The transcription of the single ribosomal RNA gene cluster is initiated at an assemblage of promoters five of which were previously mapped in the 910 base pair region in front of the 16S rRNA gene. The nucleotide sequence between positions -1680 and -910 was determined and S1 nuclease mapping revealed therein two sites corresponding to the 5' ends of the primary transcripts. These two presumabl...
